What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology, known in Sanskrit as Jyotish, is an ancient astrological tradition that comes from the Indian Vedas. Jyotish roughly translates to “light, heavenly body” and thus it is often interpreted as “the science of light.” While this system of astrology holds several features in common with more widely-known Western traditions, there are several techniques unique only to Jyotish:

  • The 27 Nakshatras, or lunar mansions, which contain the 27 fixed stars found among the 12 zodiacal constellations
  • The mahadasha system, or planetary periods, used to assess when planets in the natal chart become activated and yield their results
  • The use of planetary yogas, which are specific combinations of planetary placements within a chart that yield specific results when activated

Other differences include the traditional use of the sidereal zodiac over the tropical zodiac, different ways of calculating aspects between planets, and the overall influence of Hindu philosophy and mythology in interpretation of the chart conditions. My Offerings

I have completed over 250 hours of professional-level education through the Northwest Institute of Vedic Sciences, in addition to over 5 years of independent study into the field of astrology.

Currently I offer two mediums for astrological assessment: live, one-on-one consultations and handwritten chart analysis reports. Please note that accurate knowledge of your birth time down to the minute is mandatory for my astrological offerings.

This is a scheduled, one-on-one consultation session. I review the details of your chart and give a summary of the themes that stand out the most to me. There is some transit and dasha forecasting.

This 4–6 page PDF offers a focused, meaningful look at the foundations of your Vedic birth chart. I write each report by hand, using the classical Jyotish approach centered on the chart ruler and Moon — the two placements that reveal your core temperament, emotional nature, and the way you orient yourself toward life.

Features:
Ascendant and Chart Ruler
Moon – Nakshatra and Birth Dasha

This 8–12 page report provides a deeper exploration of your natal chart using classical Vedic techniques. I write everything personally, weaving together the meaning of your planetary placements and house positions to give you a more complete picture of your internal patterns and life direction.
